Air Canada pilots are voting on whether to give their union a strike mandate, with the vote closing on Aug. 4. The earliest possible job action would be Aug. 9. If members vote for a strike mandate, the union would be in a legal position to call a strike. However, a strike would only be called if negotiations between the union and Air Canada fail to reach a resolution.

Air Canada has said it is committed to reaching a fair and reasonable agreement with its pilots. The airline has also said it has contingency plans in place to minimize the impact of any potential strike.
