LATAM Airlines Group Reports Strong Second Quarter Results
Increased International Demand Drives Revenue
Almost two years after emerging from pandemic-driven bankruptcy protection proceedings, Chiles LATAM Airlines Group is showing signs of a strong recovery. The group recently reported its second quarter results, which showed a significant increase in revenue driven by increased international demand.
Revenue and Profitability
For the three-month period ending June 30, 2023, LATAM Airlines Group reported total revenue of $3 billion. This represents a 12.5% increase over the same period in 2022. The group also reported a net profit of $105 million, compared to a net loss of $96 million in the second quarter of 2022.
The increase in revenue was primarily driven by increased international demand. LATAM Airlines Group operates a network of flights to over 144 destinations in 22 countries. As international travel restrictions have eased, the group has seen a significant increase in passenger traffic.
Cargo and Other Revenue
In addition to passenger revenue, LATAM Airlines Group also reported strong growth in cargo and other revenue. Cargo revenue increased by 18.4% to $380 million, while other revenue increased by 21.5% to $466 million.
